Read Along Readathon

deweys readathon

I’m joining Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon today as my bests have taken my child for a goodly part of the day and my grumpy husband has agreed (non-verbally) to pick up the slack thereafter.  This challenge seems like a perfect match for me and a way to get a little pep back in this hobbled step.

I can’t promise I will wake up and read at 5am when the challenge begins in my time zone.  I can’t promise to stay up until 4:55am on Sunday.  I can’t promise to complete any books.  I can’t even promise to read the entire time.

But I do hope to have fun.  I hope to find some good reads in my stacks.  I hope to unite, separately and in my own home, with some new book-addicted homies on the internets.  More than anything, I hope to luxuriate in a introverted, full-time stay at home, homeschooling, book-loving mom’s ideal day of living in other worlds and in other’s heads.

Join in if’n you want or follow along on social media.  I’ll be on Insta, as per the ushe, but #readathon will be on all your local channels.  Good luck, have fun and may all your books be excellent.

I’m a 44 something Scorpio who does not at all enjoy getting caught in the rain. I’m a mom to one whirling dervish, a former child and family therapist and reformed social worker. I have fought the monsters called Depression and Addiction for a lifetime. I want to be a part of the kindness movement. I want to be honest and real, sharing my struggles and successes on my path with others navigating their own. I want to lift up other women and be uplifted by them. I want to honor the bits between right and wrong, black and white – the grays, the ish. The place where life is actually lived.
